Founded in the spring of 2004, the Marshall County Community Band continues to
entertain the citizens of Marshall County as it provides local musicians an
opportunity to perform. Members of the Community Band come from all walks of
life and span several generations. Band membership is open to anyone who plays
a band instrument. From junior high through senior citizens, band members of
all ages are welcome. Though the Community Band is based in Marysville, the
band members represent many of the Marshall county communities, including
Waterville, Beattie, Blue Rapids, Frankfort, Vermillion, and Home, as well
as Marysville. There are even band members from Washington, Nemaha and Brown
counties, and Nebraska as well.
The Community Band has been a featured performer at many area festivals, including the
Hanover Days of '49, Waterville Music in the Park, the Marshall County Fair, the Beattie
MiloFest and many others. The Community Band also performs for the Marysville Memorial
Day ceremony, and provides music before the Marysville city July 4th fireworks display.
The Community Band performs a wide variety of musical styles that will entertain audiences
of all ages. Members of the Community Band also perform as the Marshall County Big Band,
performing favorites of the big band era.
The Marshall County Community Band is a participating member of the Marshall County Arts Cooperative.
The Community Band receives support from the Guise-Weber Foundation, the R.L. and Elsa Helvering Trust,
the Kansas Arts Commission, and the citizens of Marshall County. For more information about the
